Adopt a seal

These seals are currently available for adoption. They are working hard on their recovery in the Sealcentre in order to return to the Wadden Sea in good health. With an adoption you contribute an important part to their recovery. Adopt a seal. Who do you support? Read here what an adoption entails.

Boodie

Date rehabilitation: 08-10-2024
Location: Terschelling
Boodie had been observed on the beach at Terschelling for three days and his condition was visibly deteriorating. He was breathing very heavily and was skinny, indicating a severe lungworm infection. Care was necessary. At the centre, he was given medication against the lungworm and intensively cared for. He has since been allowed to slowly get used to the outdoor pool again. Would you like to contribute to his return to the Wadden Sea?

Cheese

Date rehabilitation: 15-10-2024
Location: Terschelling
Cheese was found in very poor condition on Terschelling. He was struggling to breathe and unresponsive to his surroundings, which are symptoms of a lungworm infection. Because he was so sick, we decided to take him in at the seal centre immediately. Here he received medication and all the care he needed to recover well. Recently, he was allowed to go to Phase 3. Will you help him return to the Wadden Sea?

Kiwi

Date rehabilitation: 03-11-2024
Location: Noord-Holland
Seal Kiwi was the first common seal pup to come into our care this year. He was orphaned and born prematurely, but fortunately that did not stop him from growing into a strong and healthy seal. He was released in mid-July and enjoyed his freedom. In October, he was observed for a long time as he became increasingly short of breath and lost kilos, indicating a lungworm infection. Unfortunately, he was harassed on the beach to the extent that he could not recover on his own. Will you help him?

Shrimp

Date rehabilitation: 29-09-2024
Location: Terschelling
Shrimp was found on Terschelling with a large swelling on the right side of his face, wounds under his eye and a swelling on his tail. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was immediately taken to Pieterburen. He was about three months old and had a tag from another seal center, in Germany. By now, the swelling on his face has fortunately reduced a lot. Will you contribute to his full recovery?
