Give a portion of fish

These seals are currently being cared for at the Sealcentre. You can support them by donating a portion of fish. Did you know that a seal eats an average of 5 kilos of fish a day? With your donation, the seals can regain strength to return to the Wadden Sea.

Due to busy times on the website, the payment form occasionally does not work. Would you still like to donate a portion of fish? You can do so via this link. One portion of fish costs 5 euros.

Ebbie

Date rehabilitation: 03-01-2025
Location: Noord-Holland
Ebbie was rescued from a beach in North Holland on 3 January because she was being harassed by beachgoers and dogs. It was an unsafe place for her, but moving her would mean we might inadvertently take her away from her mother. For a pup about a week old, taking her in was the only option in this case. When Ebbie started losing her baby white coat, she turned out to have melanism! Under her white fur, a completely black seal emerged, which is rare. Will you help make Ebbie big and strong so she can return to the Wadden Sea?

Jonas

Date rehabilitation: 09-12-2025
Location: Noord-Holland
Grey seal pup Jonas was found without a mother on the beach near Julianadorp. He had several wounds and swellings, in his face and on his flipper. We suspect he was attacked by a dog. In the first weeks of his stay, his condition was critical, but he is now recovering. The wounds have healed and the swellings are reducing. However, serious concerns remain about his left eye, which may need to be removed in the future. Would you like to help Jonas on his recovery journey?

Lophi

Date rehabilitation: 21-12-2024
Location: Noord-Holland
On 21 December, seal pup Lophi was brought in with a severe eye injury. His right eye was found to be irreparably damaged. As the eye was not functional and at risk of life-threatening infection, the vets decided to remove it. This is the best chance of recovery, but surgery always carries risks. Fortunately, the operation went well and he has been much more active since then. Would you like to help Lophi and the other injured seals?

Smûk

Date rehabilitation: 07-12-2024
Location: Noord-Holland
Grey seal pup Smûk washed ashore near Julianadorp in North Holland after stormy weather. Like several other pups that weekend, Smûk was likely separated from his mother by strong winds. He was only a few days old. Since there was no mother nearby and he was so weak, he was immediately brought to the Seal Centre. Here, he receives all the care he needs to grow big and strong. Will you help Smûk return to the Wadden Sea?

Eileen

Date rehabilitation: 07-12-2024
Location: Noord-Holland
This is grey seal pup Eileen. After stormy weather, she washed ashore in North-Holland, where she crawled out of the water, completely exhausted. She was likely blown off a sandbank by strong winds and high tides, becoming separated from her mother. Her umbilical cord was still present, indicating that Eileen was only two to four days old. A pup this young cannot survive without its mother. That’s why we decided to take her in. Will you support Eileen so she can grow big and strong?

Willem

Date rehabilitation: 06-12-2024
Location: Den Helder
Meet Willem, the first grey seal pup in our center this season. She was found on 6 December, washed up in Den Helder. A strong storm probably blew her away from her mother. Willem was severely weakened and had painful wounds around her vaginal area. As a pup only 2 to 4 days old cannot survive without a mother, she was immediately taken to Pieterburen. Willem is a female, but is named after recently deceased seal guard Willem Stel, who was a loyal volunteer at the Sealcentre for 35 years. Will you help Willem grow big and strong?

Spheal

Date rehabilitation: 04-11-2024
Location: Ameland
Spheal (formerly named Ginger) was found on Ameland. He was breathing heavily and rapidly, indicating a lungworm infection. He also had a wound on his chin. We therefore admitted the seal immediately. Once at the Sealcentre, we discovered that Spheal had subcutaneous emphysema, in which air gets under the tissue. This can be very dangerous, but fortunately he has since recovered from this. Spheal is slowly improving and receiving all the care he needs. Will you help him make a full recovery?

Hinagiku

Date rehabilitation: 02-11-2024
Location: Schiermonnikoog
Hinagiku (formerly named Lime) was found on Schiermonnikoog on 2 November. He had a wound on his hip and was in poor condition. Heavy breathing indicated a lungworm infection. He was therefore taken to the Sealcentre. Unfortunately, Hinagiku also contracted the herpes virus. Hinagiku is now receiving all the medication and care he needs to recover. Please contribute to his recovery and return to the Wadden Sea.
